Studio Kluge is a Leipzig-based design practice working across interior, product, and scenography.

The studio was founded by Laura Kluge, whose work is shaped by a multidisciplinary education at the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design and experience in established design studios in Berlin and Leipzig and exhibithions in Germany, the Netherlands, Italy and China.

The studio collaborates with production partners outside the traditional furniture industry such as precast concrete manufacturers, scaffolding builders and sign producers, to create spaces and objects that wouldn't otherwise exist.

Each project begins with a question: what if we looked beyond the obvious? The work moves between private spaces, commercial interiors, and public institutions — always guided from first idea through to detailed planning.

Approach

Design is not about filling spaces. It's about making spaces work. For the people who use them, for the context they exist in, for the future they'll have to hold.

1

Starting with the question, not the solution - understanding place, people, and purpose before drawing a single line.

3

Designing for participation - spaces that invite use, change, and ownership.

5

Sustainability isn't treated as a trend, but as an attitude.

2

Looking for partners where others don't - production methods and materials that open up new possibilities.

4

Planning for the long term - not trends, but structures that can adapt and endure.
